The Photographer:
The Canadian boreal shield or the taiga forest provides the inspiration for my landscape photography.
In 2002, I was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition of my outstanding contribution to my country and my community.
I have been written about in National Geographic and in OnEarth magazine and my photographs have sold regionally, nationally and internationally and have appeared on the cover of magazines in both Canada and the United States.
Finding ways to reconnect with the natural world is profoundly important to me in an age where the very thing we depend on to exist - nature - has seemingly been forgotten.
As we continue to radically alter environments to suit our needs, it is imperative to take the time to step back and ruminate on what nature provides us in ways that are not readily quantifiable - its ability to elicit strong emotions.
Photographing landscapes and being on the land allows me the opportunity to immerse my minds eye in a way that evokes the deep and profound beauty inherent in nature's living landscapes.
My goal with this book is to create landscape images from the Eastside of Lake Winnipeg that provide an opportunity for contemplation of the complexities and interconnections of colours, textures, lighting, and patterns that are readily found, but often over looked, in the natural world.
All of the photographs in this book were taken on the Eastside of Lake Winnipeg from as far north as Poplar River to Grand Beach Provincial Park in the south over the course of a year and represents but a small fraction of a vast area on the Eastside of Lake Winnipeg that remains relatively inaccessible, intact and unspoiled.
I hope you enjoy the images and that they inspire you to explore and care for all that is inherently beautiful in nature as well.
